About Me

Hello!
My name is Donna, and I am an author-illustrator.
Warm, character driven stories inspired by the woods and mountains of western Pennsylvania are at the heart of my work. I love quiet moments, soft light, and the small details that make a scene feel alive. A fox sitting in a doorway, the hush of a forest path, the way children notice magic in ordinary things.

These are the moments that guide both my writing and my art, and I am always on the lookout for any foxes that might be hiding nearby. I am drawn to cozy stories, woodland creatures, and the quiet magic that lives in everyday life. My current project, Basil Winslow, follows a gentle woodland character through simple adventures and soft discoveries. It is the kind of world I loved sharing with my own boys when they were young.

Outside the studio, I enjoy hiking with my kids, spending time in nature, photography, and a great cup of coffee. Some of my favorite photographs are of a baby fox I was lucky enough to see a few years ago (which may have inspired my images of young Basil). Moments like that help me stay connected to the peaceful, wonder-filled world I try to bring to life on the page.
